When we say Nursing Home pre-planning, we are referring to planning in advance to protect your assets from a nursing home in case the need arises in the future.  To ensure all your assets are protected, we usually need 5 years to do this.

Medicaid crisis planning refers to the situations where someone is in the nursing home now, and we need Medicaid immediately.  The biggest misconception is that you have to spend all your assets on the nursing home before you qualify for medicaid.

The principle residence is an exempt asset for Medicaid; however, someone in a nursing home needs a ladybird deed to ensure they are avoiding probate and estate recovery.  If the house goes through  probate, the state will file a claim.
